Sant Josep de sa Talaia

Sant Josep de sa Talaia

History and modernity on the island’s west coast

Sant Josep de sa Talaia has always awaken the interest of the most adventurous, from the Phoenicians to the present day, attracted by its beauty and natural environment. Since 1999 the Phoenician settlement of Sa Caleta and the Posidonia sea meadows are World Heritage sites by UNESCO.

Today, in the municipality we find some of the best beaches on the island, including Platges de Comte, with its inviting crystal clear waters to take a refreshing dip, and Cala d’Hort, flanked by the islet of Es Vedrà, a place with a special magnetism.

The sunset is a moment of seduction for the senses, and at these two beaches it can be felt with vivid clarity and emotion, being some of the best images of Sant Josep. Ses Salines is another jewel of the municipality and is located in heart of the Natural Park, one of the most lovely beaches in Europe.

Sant Josep offers together tranquillity and an intense cultural life in the villages of the municipality. Over the years, live music and the hustle and bustle of its streets and terraces have become signs of identity of a municipality closely linked to creation and art, rooted in the most ancestral tradition but in a lively and continuous revision of its traditions.

Cuisine is another of the attractive things of a place like Sant Josep, where tradition is still kept in many of its restaurants. Oven-baked fish, rice dishes, ‘bullit de peix’ and seafood dishes are all ideal to enjoy on the seafront.

Spending a few days in Sant Josep means enjoying a unique environment, but without giving up the quality of good service as the municipality has a wide range of hotels perfect to enjoy a dream vacation on the island of Ibiza.
